5. Who is Buried in Columbus’ Tomb?

The remains of the man who first crossed the Atlantic Ocean more than 500 years ago could be in either the Old World of Europe or the New World of the Americas…or both! Although this mystery will never be solved, the fact that Christopher Columbus’ ashes are shared by the two worlds he helped connect seems poetically appropriate.

Let’s celebrate Israel while we’re at it. The birthday of Israel as a national holiday. Why not? It is so close to our leader’s hearts!

Is genocide cool when ‘white Christians’ do it?

No, to heck with all psychotic scumbags, in thrall to Christian zealotry or personal greed.

I will stand with the native and Eurpean people of this continent and all those against imperialist systems, from Zionism of today, to the imperialism of the Spanish. No one has the right to do what they did.

    Down with all authoritarian regimes.

Say no to Manifest Destiny, and Imminent Domain.

“The writings of a Spanish Dominican priest who observed some of the carnage, Bartolomé de Las Casas, remain on record. He wrote that colonists “made bets as to who would slit a man in two, or cut off his head at one blow; or they opened up his bowels. They tore the babes from their mothers breast by their feet, and dashed their heads against the rocks … they spitted the bodies of other babes, together with their mothers and all who were before them, on their swords … and by thirteens, in honor and reverence for our Redeemer and the twelve Apostles they put wood underneath and, with fire, they burned the Indians alive.”

    Cool, let’s be Orcs!

    Let’s celebrate!

“Grunt, grunt, hey that’s my victim!”

Some folks have Columbus Day off work, and some actually celebrate it, not just in the United States but throughout the Americas. One who doesn’t is Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez.

Six years ago, under Chávez, Columbus Day in Venezuela was changed to the Day of Indigenous Resistance, “to commemorate the Indigenous people’s resistance to European settlement.”

Four years ago on the Day of Indigenous Resistance, in Caracas, a group of Venezuelans toppled a statue of Christoper Columbus. Aporrea, a left-wing and thus pro-Chávez website, reported the event as follows: “Just like the statue of Saddam in Baghdad (the previous year), that of Columbus the tyrant also fell this October 12, 2004 in Caracas.”

Christopher Columbus, who sailed the ocean blue in 1492, compared to Saddam Hussein? That was a new one, but a number of historians for many years have placed Columbus among the ranks of Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin.

Historian Howard Zinn, author of “A People’s History of the United States,” writes that Columbus and his crews committed acts of genocide upon Native Americans during his four expeditions. Zinn’s book, along with many other history texts, describes Columbus as a religous crusader who aimed to murder or torture Indigenous peoples who did not convert to Christianity. Furthermore, Columbus pursued wealth and fame to the point where he sought contracts to claim 10 percent ownership of any discovered lands, including gold found therein.

  3. Anarchore- Ahh yes, remember when conquest was something good?

Let’s see., we’re supposed to be the most democratic, evolved, everybody-wants-to-come-here-all-so-pretend-equal, women-are-men-are-women-or-both-or-neither, let-everybody-in drinks on the house, your mommy doesn’t have to be chained-to-the-stove-anymore-now-she-can-sit-in-traffic-and-take-shit-off-ESL-middle-management- and at the same time…
we’re horrible, evil , oppressors of the indignantly indigenous, ‘hangers-on’ to the ‘better-life’ others want for themselves but-never-can-have-because-they’re-not-us, EvilNaziRacistHaters watering the grass, EvilNaziRacistHater- behind the hedges, ENRH -how can it be we who betray those who have already betrayed us?
How can they say it is we who are the fallen
when it is they have taken it all away
and where will they go when you come callin
what will they say, what will they say then?

  4. anarchore says:

History is full of Columbus types, and the ‘other’ would do it to us were circumstances reversed… who knows… where does the lust for gold originate? There is even speculation that Columbus was a Jew, which neither excuses nor explains his actions, unless he did them during Purim, of course. ;-)
