Love Song for the Sea

ours is not a tragic tale
for I am with you
bound to you through centuries and eons
I lean and touched the earth today
on the shore , my feet bare
and knew somewhere you also
touched earth
infinitesimal original life forms,
grains falling away
also eons old
caressing me
I lie down covered
in its ancient essence
salt and earth, shell and bone
the waves came upon me
rhythmic , roaring
I try to hold
what cannot be contained
yet still surrounds
I sink in the sand.. and surrender
I will fight you no more Poseidon
